I found a thread over on DPR where a user had some hands-on time with the new PL100-400. Needless to say, the IQ of this lens does not disappoint.

Here's one image, shot at max reach wide open (400mm f/6.3) at ISO 3200, and it looks amazing.

If I was still doing car racing I'd be all over this lens! Really looking forward to more samples. :)

That's what I have in mind, using it for motorspots. Currently I'm using a 50-200 SWD along with a 1.4x TC, but it's all manual focus on my GH4. The biggest thing is the cost though, everytime I think about spending $1800 on a lens, it makes me second guess it.

So I guess $2500 for an Olympus 300 Pro just isn't going to happen.

If shot Panasonic I would have one of these on preorder to sit on a GX8.

Haha, the 300mm is DEFINITELY not going to happen. I'll likely end up picking up one, but I'll wait for a used copy to show up, or I'll buy one from Japan. I've had great success buying lenses from Japan in the past. They're brand new lenses, but just at ~75% of the cost of one here in the US. If I can pick up a new copy from Japan for $1500, I'll be all over this.

Don't let me tell you what I spent 10 years ago on a Canon 300mm/2.8 lens.... :D I think this lens is priced right, but its definitely in the price range of "this lens needs to make me money", versus "I really want to have this lens to play with". :) Right now, I'm not making any money on car photography. :(
