Panasonic 100-300mm with single element dipters

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if any of you had used the Panasonic 100-300mm for macro shots. If so how was the picture quality from one of the $5 close up filters you can get off of ebay.

Pics would be great.

Don't know about diopters with this lens, but cheap diopters are almost always a pain to use and the IQ barely is Okay. I'd strongly recommend you get the achormatic diopter like the Marumi DHG diopters and use them with the telephoto lens for good IQ.

Never heard of that brand before , I bet it is a cheap made in china piece. Might work , might not??? I generally use Tiffen or B+W for filters including close-up sets. I do not know how well they work with that lens however.

Not sure as I haven't used this one. I bought some cheap close up lenses and took them out only once. Learnt from my mistake and got a very good deal on Marumi DHG ($55 for +3 and +5), just bought them and couldn't be happier.

I am not sure what you are actually going to photograph. but you may find a +10 diopter lens filter is too powerful for general macro photography, it is a very specialised lens. To give you an idea of diopter power, The picture was taken using a 45-200 lens at 200mm with an achromatic lens of 1.6 diopter. The flower head showing the stamen is about 1 inch across.
