I accidentally posted this photo in the MK I thread, so I deleted it and attempted to post it in the correct thread. But for the life of me I can’t find it. So I give up. Here’s the image. Moderator you can move or delete this as you see fit. I’m going to bed.

  2. I think for lenses that are optically identical there may not always be a separate thread... e.g. DJI 15mm versus PL15mm, P20mm I/II...

  6. I found a used copy. This is from a series of initial hand-held test shots from my driveway.
300mm wide open (f/5.6) at 1/1000s, ISO400, cropped down to about 70%. Room for improvement, but okay for a first attempt at super-telephoto I think.

  7. Aperture of f/4-5.6 is bit difficult for birds in the bush, this was at ISO3200.

  8. Some examples at 300mm wide-open. First one uncropped, second one cropped ever so slightly for composition.
Both needed a little bit of extra C/A correction in ACR, but it seems to have cleaned up okay without too much loss in quality.

All but one of the images in the Urocyon littoralis thread (so far) are from the 100-300 II. Mostly towards the long end; from a look at the EXIF 188mm is the shortest there.

I spent the weekend visiting family in Tauranga, and went to the beach on Sunday morning where we all enjoyed boogie boarding near Mount Maunganui, and I took lots of photos. Here are a few of various family members enjoying the surf, all taken with the 100-300ii on my G85.

  12. More pūkeko

The lens suffered an unfortunate tumble onto loose gravel on the return leg of this outing... a few scratches and dents in the end cap/hood, but fortunately still fine optically and mechanically.

First try out of a new lens. The usual selection of brick wall shots seem acceptable. crow.

No complaints about sharpness at F8. Crop is 100%. Shot was taken across the river Exe so may benefit from a lower level of softening due to atmospheric effects. coffee. coffee crop.

  18. Went plane spotting with this lens on the E-M1. It did very well until it got dark...

The A380 is ginormous - this is only at 127mm, the other pictures are at 300mm and cropped to varying degrees.

There were massive heat waves coming off the tarmac taxi strips between the camera and main runway... lots of shots were kind of ruined by this towards the end.

Panning at 1/500s worked just fine, I kept OIS on (no IBIS).

A pair of F-16s from Misawa AFB (Japan) arrived for an air show over Easter. They arrived at sun down so not much light left - the C-AF with this lens on the E-M1 (which had been fine earlier in the afternoon) nose dived at this point.

Yes, the Bokeh is one of the things I really like about this lens. Nice shot!
