I planted the garden with some native shrubs they like to forage on and they in turn roost nearby at night. Still too warm to get too close without disturbing them but it's cooling down now.

One that was disturbed and settled on the nearby Banana tree stump.

And with a little BG, a leaf held and a piece of material placed behind, or is that driving rain ...

Amazing shots, as always! Blue-banded bees are especially hard to shoot as they tend to move quickly from flower to flower... Great job!

Hi Eugene. In a word? FZ50, + achromats and snooted/diffused flash. All illustrated here - Macro Illustrated | Nature's Place Ok, a few more than 'a' word. Specific questions are welcome here or there.

Best ... M (will be back)

Wait. If it's too warm to get close to them, what are you going to shoot when it gets cooler? Individual eyes?

    Great shots, by the way.

    Problem with Being Mark

    Hi Mark,

I was looking at your work this morning and really love it. The blog is really informative as well. However, I am now getting messages that your site is the source of malware and my internet security program is blocking it. Any ideas what the cause of this could be?

You are the third person in 5 years to say that and two of them were using Trend Micro. Are you using TM? I tried to contact them but they have no facility for notifying them of false positives.

If It's on the Macro Illustrated | Nature's Place page it could be one user link but other than that I have no idea. That page has had thousands of hits since it started, the site has had 150,000 hits. Only 3 what you report.

Why don't you just tell your AV it's not malicious, or have them verify it? I don't know how. Any one else had the same from their AV?

PS I have just run 4 evaluations from 4 different checkers and not a thing out of place. Your AV is flagging a false positive and I have no idea why. Please correct it with your AV if you can and will?

    Bets ... Mark

    Mark,
Not Trend Micro; my AV is Comodo. The weird thing is that it worked this morning, blocked me at midday, and now is working again. I will do what I can to get things changed the next time the message comes up.

Yes, that is funny. I use Comodo Firewall. Maybe it's a sales pitch, just had a pop-up from them to buy their AV. Ha! :)

Sharper, with more time to get it right - for me. It's a window of opportunity in time and conditions.

    Welcome ...
Thanks - only if you chase them around during their foraging times.
    Cheers all ...
