From what I have read, the camera can be operated from a smart phone. I wonder if it can also be controlled from an Ipad or Samsung pad?

    Certainly can from an iPad.

As wjiang suggests you need to download the app OI.Share.

Thanks for the feedback. As I understand what has been stated, any device using the adroid app can be used. So I guess the Kindle fire can be used? I understand it uses the "jelly bean" android operating system.

There is both an Android app and an IOS app. This means that it'll work from any Android smartphone or tablet. The IOS app will work from the iPhone, ipod Touch, and any versions of the ipad.

Even though the Kindle Fire is Android, it doesn't appear that they have the software in their app store. It's a shame that the Kindle Fire won't allow you to download apps from the google play store.

Thanks Andy. Will have to talk with the Kindle people to find out why not.

You can install olympus image share via 1mobilemarket. You just dl the 1mobilemarket.apk and access the file by using a file manager on the kindle. You then use the app store to dl the olympus app. I just did it on my kindle fire hdx last week. If you need help I can try and assist.
