After shooting an indoor event with the 45mm, I'm about to pull the trigger on the 25mn so I never have to do that again!

I just want to know if there are any compatibility issues that I should be aware of.

also should I wait to see what photokina has in store for us?

Some people report some chatter/rattlesnake of the aperture blades, but I did not have this on my E-M5 when in A mode (and it was crazy frequent and loud on my E-P3). No other compatibility things that I know of...

I was hoping that Photokina would bring us a slightly smaller/cheaper Olympus 25mm/f1.8, but I wonder if that rumor was originally incorrect, and that we are now seeing this prototype 17/1.8 instead?

I have no chattering except on start up (first few seconds after the camera has been turned on) on the OM-D

Aperture chatter here and there but I don't really mind it.

I have some chatter. Doesn't bother me much but I do notice it. Otherwise I really like the lens.

It works great on my OM-D and is my favorite M4/3 lens by far.

I have same problem about strange sound/noisy. Maybe about aperture blade.

A small other thing: when I change aperture higher than f1.4, shutter sound is different compare to f1.4 and other lens.

I love this lens on this camera. Only complaint is the autofocus is a bit slower than on my pana body, which is a shame, although par for the course with oly/pana mixing. Ironically I find the 20mm autofocus better than I expected on the e-m5.

Also, IBIS is awesome, 1/4s quite reliable.

Chatters on mine, but I forget about it after looking at the results.

    I have a 25mm on the way!
  15. The lens has noisy aperture blades, so you might hear the aperture open fully to focus, and then stop down during exposure. Combined with the soft E-M5 shutter, I think it sounds like the camera is sneezing. Louder shutters on other cameras make the sound of the lens less noticeable.

The only time I have chatter issues with my E-M5/PL 25 is when I'm shooting indoors with a mixture of fluorescent and natural ambient light. Otherwise, it's great.

    Hey there.

When you do get your PL25, don't be afraid to shoot wide open....that lens is the bomb even wide open. Granted that edge to edge sharpness gets better at about 2.8 and beyond...but that baby has got 1.4 for a reason.

Close in your subjects face/upper torso...open the lens right up and let the background slowly roll off into that delicious velvety blurrrrrr ;)

    Enjoy your new lens.

How does teh AF speed on the 25 compare to the 14 and the 20?
I'm trying to offload both right now so i can get a 25, and I'm hoping the AF is somewhere between the two, or closer to the 14!

It is just as fast as the 14 no doubt. On my E-M5, the 25 focused faster than the 14.

Since the lens is bigger, you can feel it focus rather than the tiny 14.
