Apparently those who pre-ordered the E-P3 from Olympus in Japan had the option to choose to receive a special wooden grip as a gift:

Ohhhh...Sweet, wonder how practical & safe it would be in terms of gripiness.

Unlike the wooden Pentax a while back, this is actually really nice looking.

That's sort of cool looking, but if I'd held onto my EP3, I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten the larger of the two grip options, rather than a fancier version (of which there appear to be a few) of the small one...

Wha-? You mean you had the choice to receive this as a free gift or not? Who would say no to that?

I guess it was a Sigma, my mistake.

There was an atrocious Limited Edition Pentax 645 announced a few months ago too. Whoever comes up with these things has had their aesthetic sensibilities removed.

I like the look of the Oly with that option.

Well, my aesthetic sensibilities are in perfect condition and I think the Pentax is, for a medium format camera, nice looking.

The Sigma does appear ugly to me though.

I also agree. Oly with wood = good.
    Wood Sigma.....weird and ugly
Limited Edition Pentax....strange and beautiful. Medium format cameras are bulky and hard to make beautiful.

Dude, you should just look in a camera store in Japan. All the cameras come in colors that you haven't imagined elsewhere. Some look like toys due to the bright primaries.

I dunno, I sorta like the Pentax ... slap on some hydraulics ... some nice Cragers ... turn up some Poncho Sanchez real high ... 'n go cruzin' down Whittier Boulevard.
