I would imagine that this is the financials catching up with what we already know about Olympus' strategy - cull the compacts, low end and mid-priced PEN's.
Focus more heavily on the OM-D's and premium segment.
As a strategy it makes sense to have fewer and more distinct models within their lineup.
The Pens aren't selling. I suspect this is mostly the lack of a built-in EVF, at least for the enthusiast market. For whatever reason, Olympus appears to be happier to emphasize the OMD rather than put an EVF in at least the high end Pen.
