the Olympus brand has a lot of value and whomever buys in will obviously take care not to scuttle their own purchase. It will be interesting news to follow regardless.

Why? I'd argue that Sony has been one of the few that is brave enough to come out with revolutionary products these days.

Fairly sure I remember reading that most of this was related to Olympus's endoscope division, no? Doubtful it would have an affect on camera development.

Before we spend too much time/energy speculating about who's going to buy Olympus, I'd like to point out that it's apparently not a foregone conclusion that the company isn't going to be able to recover on its own:

Olympus may try to tough out scandal without help

Even if they do make a partnership it may be a very good thing for the Olympus camera brand. The one company listed that concerns me is Terumo Medical. They may only be interested in the medical branch of Olympus{which is not struggling finically BTW}. If they got a controlling interest they might kill off the camera brand. Of coarse I could be totally wrong.

If Terumo gets controlling interest, they are likely to do what Hoya did with Pentax and sell off the camera side to another company. Might not be a bad thing.
