Olympus PEN E-PL7 Image Thread

Kicking-off this thread. Just received my E-PL7 and first thing I wanted to test (upgrading from E-PL3) was the 3-axis IBIS.

Some of my first images with the E-PL7. All pictures taken with the 14-42mm kit lens and shot in RAW (unless otherwise stated).

As you can easily tell, I am still a novice, so my apologies if the images are not as good as others I see around here.

i've been interested in the E-PL7 and came looking for samples. surely members have taken more since last october...?

I know the PL7 is going to equal the quality of another 16MP m4/3s camera. However, I can't decide if I should get the $250 PM2 that is a bit smaller and 270 grams and crappy IBIS; or if should spring for the $500 PL7 with the 3-axis stabilization and deal with it being thicker, taller, and 360 grams. Hmm.....

I feel the weak link of the E-PM2 (and E-PL5) other than its mediocre ibis is the LCD. The LCD is deficient in two ways. Its 16x9 format is good for video, but when set for 3x2 and 4x3 its effective view size becomes about 2.5". Second, the resolution is disappointingly low, that it affects framing and judging sharpness on review and manual focusing. The E-PL7 addressed both of these weaknesses. Along with the other improvements it's worth the expense.

e-pM2's LCD is awful, shockingly small and stupidly dwarvish.
e-pL7's LCD is fine, almost as good as the e-P1's

MOSTLY true, however, it gets better if you switch the shooting mode to 3:2 (or 16:9) and use more of the screen. On EPM2, I have the shooting mode at 3:2, which doesn't really affect the raw files but gives you a bigger view.

i sold my EPM2 with great relief. i thought i'd be okay with having the modes buried in the menu, but i found the menus were a bit of a pain, and the stabilization wasn't great. in looking back, though, the image quality was nice, and so when i thought about a carryaround camera, i thought of the EPL7 as well as the EM10.

btw, prophet - thanks for the pics. i really love number 2.
