It may depend on where you live, but if I buy from Olympus I pay my state's sales tax of 6%, adding $102 to the purchase price for a total of $1801. If I buy from B&H, they don't charge me sales tax, so the price is what it is ($1850).

That may be a deciding factor in where you choose to purchase from.

If you don't mind buying used, they seem to be going for $1400-1500 over on Fred Miranda.

I'm eagerly anticipating the rumored FW release, hoping that it makes some improvements to the C-AF performance.

I was kind of thinking of buying it and then just selling the grip to gain even more savings since I only want it for the focus stacking, size, weather sealing, 4K and PDAF

The "sale" sure didn't last long. I guess it was designed to pull over the people who were interested on the G9, but couldn't find it in stock.
