I'm really enjoying this lens simply for it's beautiful build quality. Image-wise it seems good and sharp. I'll post some wide open test shots when I can, but for now here's a hummingbird at f/8.0 and ISO 1600, taken with the E-M5...

A couple of wide open shots. Not so much as tests of sharpness, but they do show the rather nice bokeh. One negative issue I noticed in these shots is significant red and green fringing. I was able to clean it up significantly in Lightroom, but not completely. Full frame it's not so noticeable, but it will probably be an issue if and when I try using it for birds and I'm cropping significantly.

f/4.5, ISO 200, E-M5...

This is taken from across the River Forth in Scotland and is a two-shot panorama. The full size version is on my Flickr: All sizes | Crystal Symphony | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I loved this lens when I used it on my Canon bodies. Sadly I sold it in favor of the Tokina 400/5.6 (which is equally excellent), but I am considering picking one up again for my OM-D.

That tower is amazing! What airport is that? I'm jealous to those colleagues. They might even have a lift in their office...we don't have even that at EFPO TWR.

It looks like the new tower at Edinburgh Airport to me, although at this time of year it's normally dark when I fly in and out.

Testin the F-Zuiko 300mm f4.5 SN 128 891
The photos are from a Serinus serinus, taken with the F-Zuiko 300mm lens f4.5 , with an aperture of f8 and an estimated distance of ± 14 meters (46 feet). They were taken hand held and I found that even with IS I could not get sharp images bellow !/800 - 1/1000s (1kg of glass supported by a weak guy?). The body is an Olympus OM-D EM-5.
I present the original photo without post processing and without being cropped and then the cropped version with some sharpening with Gimp.
I also have a Pansonic 100-300mm and at 300mm I think they are both equally "sharp".
I'm not a bird photographer expert, just a beginner in this area.
Without sharpening:

Another commercial airplane with the 300mm + Olympus 2X-A teleconverter. It is an Air France Boeing 777 at a distance of more or less 20km (calculated with the help of planefinder - Plane Finder – Flight Radar and Live Flight Tracking). The meteorological conditions were exceptional good and I manage to focus correct. The picture is not cropped.

Just for fun. I try a photograph of Saturn with this lens. the photos were taken inside a town with street lights. To get this ones, i took more then an one hundred photos. Regarding the best photo being without the tele-converter, it could be linked to the fact that this teleconverter is not recommended for this lens or just pure luck. But has I written in the beginning, it was just for the fun and I'm not an astrophotographer.
