Very, very hard to get this bird in the frame and have it sharp and in the good light as well. Thanks to the zoom function of the camera and the peaking it worked.

I saw these two. They waited patiently till I got my camera out of the bag, changed lenses, framed and focussed.

Bought this lens a few months ago, time for a picture.
Overcast day, E-M5 II, f/8, ISO1600, minimum focus distance.
I like the way it shows the texture on the branch, the colors, and the out-of-focus background.

At 1/30 seconds not sharp, but still pleasing to my eye

You and I seem to be the only fans of this lens :)

The longer focal lengths often require more skill/luck to get a great picture, but when you do it's a winner. And they don't have to be pics of far-distant subjects either.
Perspective compression and bokeh are two features a tele lens excels at.
I used to think a 300mm lens had to be f/2.8 to be of any use, but my wallet forced me to think otherwise. The OM 300/4.5 is affordable (relatively speaking), very well built, and makes great pics.
So yes, there should be more fans of this lens.

I am a fan. Saved me $2300 for a 300mm prime, a lens that I don't use often....or often enough. But for $100 I don't feel guilty letting it sit in the closet for extended periods of time. It works well with the MC converters although they seem to introduce CA, the 2x more so than the 1.4x, could be technique. Wonderful lens almost makes me want to buy an OM-1.

Meet Plymouth.

Nice out today so I gave the old 300mm some air. I have a lot to learn with this lens in terms of focusing. But these are taken from 20 feet with the MC-20, sun directly to my back to catch the color and to see if that was causing the CA's in other pictures.

Probably the 2 sharpest of the bunch. I get a ton of movement when I trip the shutter. I say trip, because I know if I squeezed it like I should the movement would not be a problem, practice practice practice. Perhaps at an EFL of 1200mm I should be using my monopod.

I am sorry, these are from 30 feet at an EFL of 1200mm F8 hand held OM=D E-M1 Mk2.

Went back out until the battery died with my mono pod. That and switched from RAW to Jpeg and got much better results although no stunning color.
