Thanks for the tip Razer :2thumbs:

Looks like IBIS is included, and the EVF interface is there too.

It's obviously built to a budget - looking at the rear, but I like the fact they're going smaller, lighter and cheaper without losing important functionality.

Great news for m4/3rds in general I think.

Personally if it does come out at £400 with the kit lens this will be a big seller for Olympus actually a massive seller.

The controls have been dumbed down and the 2.7" LCD is a bit of a dissapointment with the back of the camera looking like a $99 cheapie.

Mono sound on videos by looks of things with the mike input just in front of the hot shoe.

Interesting they have gone to the flat strap loops.

What I found most interesting was the pricing of the 9-18 and 14-150 zooms at USD 699.99 and 599.99 respectively. Those are keen prices, especially for the 14-150. I wonder what the quality will be like. The May/Junes delivery dates are a couple of months later than I would have expected too.

I want to see more info on these lenses. Non-rotating front elements that are happy with Cokin filter holders would be much appreciated.

Oh dear, dpreview aren't happy being scooped by engadget...

You can't hide innovation, apparently (that had to backfire!)

I suspect that dpreview will get a review camera before anyone else in the UK... to be 'hands-on previewed' immediately following the embargo Richard mentions.

I'd rather see another review by Blendtec

Also, I think that Brainiac should conduct official camera previews

Looks interesting. Does it shoot water out the lens?

Looks like the story has been pulled from engadget but http://43rumors.com/ has published both the lens and camera press releases.

So, engadget gives all the advantage to 43rumors... it's a crazy world!

I like the grip and the fact it has a flash, but other than that, I'm not seeing anything that I have to have.

I'm relieved that I don't like it compared to what I have. Now if it did squirt water...

    BB,
The pop up flash is not a flash. That's the digitized H2o exit device.
That's why the camera is plastic. No shock value here!

I'd probably get one for The Wife, (Boss).
She uses my Pen on P and then I pick it up and settings have changed.
Not a pretty site in the shooter world.

    It's very utilitarian looking....

In all seriousness, it may very well turn out to be a great seller for them. I really should reserve judgement, but it's more fun not to. Now if it could function as a transporter...

P.S. It appears as though all links to reports are now defunct?

You've got to admit that if it comes in at 43rumors' mooted price point of US$600 with the 14-45 lens, it'll remove one barrier to wider adoption of mu4/3. Just about every pundit review I read notes that existing mu4/3 hardware is "pricey."

Also interesting, if 43rumors' leaked release is accurate:

-- It does take the external microphone, which should solve the video sound problem.
-- It accepts the same (widely praised) external EVF as the E-P 2, although on the new camera it's an extra-cost accessory. Again, that should widen acceptance.
-- The built-in flash offers wireless control of external flashes. To me that's a big feature (any more, about the only reason I lug my Nikon gear instead of mu4/3 is if I need wireless flash.) And it's something that Pana currently doesn't offer; I suspect they'll have to match it in their next models to keep pace.

PS -- If Pana added wireless flash control and a tethered/remote shooting option, it'd be pretty much "game over" for DSLRs as far as I'm concerned...
