300+2xTC is actually pretty good to shoot prairie dogs and squirrels. I can be far enough so they are not scared. Hand held, and 80% of original (20% cropped).

Encouraged by all the great pictures on this thread, I stopped by several Yodobashi stores in Tokyo (amazing stores) looking for the MC-20 (among other things). It turns out Olympus (not just the stores) is completely sold out on them and they are on backorder everywhere.

Success! I grabbed the last one at BIC Camera. I hadn’t even planned on going there, but my wife wanted to shop in the same building. With the Japan price, exchange rate, and duty free, I saved about $70 too.

Had a first walkabout with the MC-20 (on a 300mm f4). I'm happy, seems real sharp and AF is really no problem. It will certainly bring down needs for cropping, three non-cropped samples here.

You all should stop posting such things ...

Tomorrow mine is coming, I hope it is at least 50 % as sharp as yours.

Or 35% as of our Enchantress of Sharpness ... you know who, Gidget ...

;-)

Mind boggling. Macro with 600mm lenses - think of the old film days! (Sometimes I sits and thinks and sometimes I just sits)

Mine has not arrived yet, I don't have it, I don't even have a shipping date from B&H. You people are REALLY making me want to use the H word, but I won't. Instead I will just sit here, watching, still trying to get my AF bits all figured out, while steam is coming out of my ears, eyes and nose … I think those are the only places :rolleyes-38:

On a more serious note, I am liking the M1X more as I use it more. Easier for my wife to handle as well. Seeing what you folks are doing with the MC-20 is very impressive. I am amazed that you able to hand hold at these shutter speeds. I am also VERY impressed with the performance on the M1MarkII. I am thinking about acquiring one as a backup body to the 2 M1X's.

Well, the $50 discount for using membership miles at Amazon pushed me over the edge. Combined with a $10 gift card I had ordered mine for $392.

I own both the 40-150 and the 300. I guess I will be putting my MC-14 up for sale.

Only downside is the expected ship date is in August.

[Edit] At least they won't charge me until it ships..."If you choose to use points for only a portion of your purchase, we’ll separately charge the portion of your purchase that you did not cover with points to your Card account after the purchase ships."

You will find a LOT of good reasons to keep the 1.4. Prior to my switch from Nikon I had 2 - 1.4s, 1-1.7 and 1 2.0. They all got used, often predicated on light levels.

Just the other day I saw "mid-July", now "August", this is getting annoying ...

Eh I'm not too keen waiting until August. I have one on order from BH but I have a trip scheduled the first week of August and I'd like to have it for then.

Looks like I might be picking up a Sigma 56 F1.4 or a used 75F1.8 sooner than I thought.

I’m confused... were those to replace not having the tc? I just want to make sure you realize that the tc only works on the 40-150 Pro and 300 Pro.

They're totally unrelated, just two components I wanted to acquire this year.

Edit: You have some beautiful shots on your flickr. Very nice.

I did another HHHR of the moon tonight. I tried it the last two nights with just the naked 300mm and I could not get the HHHR to do the composite or stacking, it failed every time until I put either the 1.4x or 2.0x on it......weird??

Maybe the atmospheric conditions were different this time, and it needed larger contrasting areas to lock onto?
