    Hi guys,

I'm considering purchasing the 17mm f/1.8 and I read some user reviews/comments on the web that they had a much better experience with the black version compared to the silver version. Apparently the black version is sharper and overall just performs better. Has anyone here tried both and found this to be true?

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds more like sample variation. Since the lens was initially released in silver and later in black, the black lenses are probably from a later factory run and there could of well been improvements in regards to QC.

Sounds like that is definitely the case... I saw some silver ones available second hand for cheap but since I can't be sure which batch it belongs to, I'm probably better off with a black one. In any case, the black one suits my EM-1 better anyway ;) Thanks guys for your input.
