For those looking for a Hood for your new 12-50 kit lens the Olympus brand LH-55B has been out of stock everywhere until today. It is on stock at Olympus store for 34.99 and B&H for 24.99.

Do you have a link? I've seen many JJC 3rd party ones around that price, but not Olympus.

I think JJC lens hood is the one he referred to in ebay. They are both plastic hoods so I chose the JJC one for a much cheaper price.

I used a JJC lens hood on my Oly 45mm and it doesn't seem to fit as well as the original from Olympus (a little loose), but for the price I paid compared to how much Olympus is charging, I have no complain...

  8. I bought a JJC petal hood for my Canon G1X and the fit is perfect. The LH55B hood I purchased from them is still in the post. I specifically bought it to use with my 9-18mm, and given the big difference in width between the two lenses I wonder how effective it will be on the 12-50mm.

I bought the JJC one for my 12-50mm. Nothing wrong with the fit for my one and a lot better price than the Olympus :)

Glad to hear. Because I have bought and am still waiting for my lens hoods for 12-50mm and 45mm lenses.

They're both plastic. I was happy to hear about the Olympus one for $16, even $20. But I wouldn't pay more than $9 for a no-name one. I like a good deal but I'm not a fan of paying the high markup on ripoffs.

$25 isn't that bad for the original one. My LH-40B was 29GBP ($46) when I bought it. I'd get the 3rd party version for $13 vs $39 (currently).

The cheapest ones have a brand name "uWinKa" - sounds just a bit too close to something a little obscene, That's not really a brand name I want on my camera gear. LOL!
