Jake, I've been trying to find out if anyone within this site has discussed this or not. Right now, the only thing I can do is refer you to this thread here https://www.mu-43.com/showthread.php?t=1270 started by CanonDude, another recent E-PL1 owner. Take a read through it and you'll see he's mentioned something about software. You might also send him a PM (private message) and ask him for some help... In the meantime, I'll see what else I can find and/or someone more knowledgeable may post and help you out.

Currently this is the only software that can recognize epl1 raw file. It is similar but suppose to be better than the Master. One thing I know for sure is using it with raw is paintfully slow. I am waiting for lightRoom to update. On the other hand epl1 jpeg is excellent. I don't know if I can better with raw.

I'm not sure I'd call it the same software considering they're listed as different pieces of software on the olympus site. You could probably suggest that it's meant to serve the same purpose as olympus master does for the other cameras.

Olympus Master 2 can open e-pl1 raw files too, and it's downloadable free from olympus, http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/oima_softwaremaster.asp

Also anything that uses dcraw can convert ep1l files too like gthumb, or dcraw itself or ufraw, or gimp with the ufraw plugin.
