Saw this on Reddit, firmware updates for almost all of the 16-megapixel cameras.

Joint update service for OLYMPUS E-SYSTEM - OLYMPUS Digital Camera

Seems to be focused on adding IBIS + lens stabilization support for the 300mm lens. May be some extras snuck in? Here's the changelog for my E-P5.

I'll do my E-P5 when I get home tonight. I'm hoping for a very minor update -- I'd like the histogram to remain visible when the green focus box is visible. My old E-M10 and current E-M5ii can display both histogram + focus box, but on E-P5 the histogram goes away when the focus box is visible.

FWIW, my E-P5 did not lose settings with the update.

Major updates erase settings, e.g. from 1.x to 2.x or higher.

Minor updates will not, e.g. from 2.1 to 2.2

The first update for the E-M10 in almost one year and a half, and it is just for the IS compatibility with the 300 f4... WTF????

  13. I seem to have lost "blinkies" in live view. I do see the highlight/shadow colored lines in the histogram, just not superimposed on the image display. Same behavior on both my E-M5 and my E-P5.

My settings are: Gears - Disp - info settings - LV info - Highlight and shadow 'On'.

Apart from this, no trouble with the download and update.

Updated EM5 and EM10, both retained settings just fine. Highlight and shadow warnings still work normally on the bodies I have FWIW...

    Updated M10, found no problems.

Was not able to provocate the banding issue with Pana 20mm/1.7 II !!!

I was able to make nightshoots at Iso25600 without banding , will test more tonight.

    Anybody can prove?

The updated EM5 and 20mm II I have shows typical banding visible at ISO 3200 with increasing prominence as the ISO increases. No change that I can see.

Wife's EM10 with latest firmware doesn't show banding until about ISO 8000, and its much finer/less intrusive than the EM5 at ISO 3200. I had not used the 20mm on the EM10 before, so can't compare to earlier firmware unfortunately.

Does someone else see this? I'd rather keep blinkies than add support for 300 f4

Blue and orange blinkies are still there. E-M5 "Elite" firmware 2.2.

  19. I was the guy with the blinkies problem. Pleased to report that it was user error. Cycling the info button brought the blinkies back. Duh.
