    Now that I have just bought EP3 and EPL3 how long before the EP4 and EPL4 comes out and makes mine obsolete? LOL.. frustrating but what do you do? not buy and wait or buy and like and wait? It's like OK, I got the best but wake up in the morning and something has come out to replace the one I just bought.. LOL.. fast and moving market for sure..

    I'm hoping they add the tilt screen to the E-P4 so we don't to make that agonizing decision ;)

    I bet something will be announced in January if not before the end of the year.

    I'd say go for the E-PM2. It doesn't have all the problems of the E-P4 and it's not as obtrusive as the E-PL4. It also comes in purple, it's cheap, and it comes bundled with the new 45mm pancake.

    Let's see, what would make me give up my E-P3 for an E-P4:
    - a tilt screen;
    - the G3 16MP sensor;
    - faster shutter speed, hence higher fps;
    - full compatibility with the 4/3 lenses...

    So, when is it coming out again? LOL

    I used an Olympus C3020 from 2002 to 2010, when I upgraded to my EPL1.

    I don't know ... I don't really suffer from Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS). I feel a certain guilt when replacing old trusty gear.

    I have friends that USED to be interested in photography, but now are into photo gear, constantly pixel peeking and complaining about a lack of sharpness in their photos.

    I try to concentrate on simply shooting photos. However, I am starting to get a bit of the itch when it comes to legacy glass - I subscribe to the aesthetic of breathing new life into the old. This has resulted in a bit of a purchasing binge of my own, but it's a pittance compared to the cost of native glass.

    I can see how being active in a community such as this, where you're constantly bombarded with news and rumors, where we drool over camera porn (isn't that a bit absurd by the way?), can lead to that desire to have the latest and greatest.

    Great points, man. Something to be said for getting fantastic shots out of a camera a few generations old (2 years in digital).

    I know this thread was really started as a joke, but if they did the first 2, I'd buy one of each color and be done buying cameras.....period.

    I want to get the EP-4.

    Assuming they get new sensors, the price premium for the EP-4 would actually be worth it this time around.

    :rofl: Well, it's worth it, if you're upgrading from their previous models. If you're comparing it to the rest of the other cameras out there, you better like the way it looks and how fast it focuses.

    We're getting really close to a mature, ideal camera. Finally the 3 series Oly is responsive and attractive. I think its safe to say AF isnt going to get slower, so we can only improve IQ wise. Just need a bump in sensor performance (ok and a built in EVF) and I will no longer have to torture myself about upgrading from my E-P1.

    We also have the fabled Pen Pro, but that may be more like end of 2012 or 2013 even.

    First, the eventual arrival of the E-P4 will not make your E-P3 obsolete! Believe it or not, you will still be able to use it, it will still handle just as responsively and take the same great pictures it does now.

    Second, I doubt there will be an E-P4 because '4' is considered very unlucky in Japan. Expect an E-P5 instead. :biggrin:

    My EP4 wish list

    New 16mp G3 sensor, with new processor (TruePic VII) improving iso 2 additional stops starting at ISO 100 but also improved performance at 6400
    Max shutter improved to 1/8000 (only the EP-x, Lite and mini kept at 4000)
    Manual focus peaking
    Improved Movie performance

    NO TILT SCREEN (I don't want it to be a thicker body than it already is)

    New 45mm pancake 2.8 kit lens (thinner then the 20mm 1.7)
    New Zoom kit lens 20mm - 54mm constant f3.5

    Good point on the tilt screen, I appreciate how my E-P3 is thinner than the E-PL3's body. But... you would think they could work out adding it without increasing thickness and also making it blend a bit better with the body.

    We do have a 50mm macro supposedly coming down the line, but I am guessing it will be similar size and build as the 12mm.

    Is that actual or equivalent focal lengths?

    I'd like a 14-35mm constant f2.8 (f2 would be even better but would surely make the lens too big)
