Olympus E-M1 Kits - Australian Availability

Discussion in 'Olympus Cameras' started by Luckypenguin, Sep 11, 2013.

  1. Back when the E-M5 was released last year we had a thread that tracked the availability of early Australian stock and which unearthed some good deals from JB HiFi and CameraPro. Hopefully the same can happen with the E-M1. Of course the crapness of the Australian dollar is going to hurt this time compared to it being over $US1 when the E-M5 came out.

So far I've found that CameraPro has started taking pre-orders with the following prices (listed as indicative only):

    Body Only: $1600.01
    Body + 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 Lens: $1900
    Body + 12-40mm f2.8 Lens: $2400

Link below to CameraPro's pre-order page. They are predicting early to mid October delivery.

I don't see pre order for the 12-40 lens only :(

OK... changed my mind, I'm ordering the body now not the lens :)

Price of the kit is quite tempting. Probably if I get rid of some of the gears I could pre-order it :). btw, Cambuy ad showed they also give away a BLN-1 battery for pre orders. That alone is another 70-80A$ off the total price. Sooooo tempting.

Here is the Olumpus AU promotion: HLD7 or MMF-3 https://twitter.com/Olympus_AU/status/383163304387940352/photo/1

The promotion is not up on there website. How disappointing!

  5. Didn't see the battery promotion. More good news. The kit price is less than you'll pay for a GH3 and 12-35mm in a kit. I might email them to see when they expect availability.

Nic, I would like to know that as well. Please update us if you got some good news :)

  7. The response from Cambuy.com.au is that they were given an ETA of late October but no information yet on which lens kits (12-40mm, 12-50mm, or none) they would receive first.

It also appears so far that Olympus Australia isn't offering any promotions with the new camera, although they currently have some kind of deal to give away a pair of Sennheiser headphones with purchases of the E-M5 or selected Pen models. The E-M1 isn't mentioned in this promotion yet although it is of dubious value to me anyway unless I could resell them.

  11. Thanks, that's good to know. I assume that at ~$250-300 the battery grip is worth much more than the adapter (which I already have from when I purchased my E-M5) but I wonder whether there will be much of a market to sell it if everyone else is redeeming battery grips with their new E-M1s anyway. If you can see yourself using the HLD-7 it's a great offer.

  12. Camerapro has updated their prices ($1589.01 body only, $1889 with the 12-50mm, and $2379 with the 12-40mm) and confirmed the redemption offer. They note that you need to purchase before October 31 to get the grip or adapter for free.

Cambuy now shows the same offer until the end of October and still have lower prices compared to CameraPro

    http://www.cambuy.com.au/olympus-om-d-e-m1-single-lens-kit-with-12-40mm-lens/

Incidentally, Cambuy's shipping costs are $11.95 for standard and $15.95 for insured.

  13. The Cambuy free battery offer has been withdrawn after Olympus Australia announced their promotion, so their deal is now equal with digitalcameragear.com.au although their shipping is still slightly cheaper.

    Limit 3 units per customer.

I'm not sure if I'm going yet. It would be fun to go and play around with it, but I just don't see myself buying it right now.
