Olympus 9mm f2.8 rumor

Now, this is more like it. Would be even better if it were an 8mm or better still a 7mm and took filters. I'd buy it in an instant!

YES PLEASE! The mu43 system would definitely benefit from a nice fast wide angle prime that is reasonably priced and relatively compact! The upcoming 7-14mm Pro lens looks promising but it looks big. Filters please

 

9mm is fine for me. In a perfect world I'd prefer 8mm, but a 9mm should be a bit smaller and cheaper. As long as it takes filters I'll be a buyer.

 

You know, I reckon an 8mm f2.8 that takes filters will be an absolutely fantastic addition to the u43 family. Please, please, please Oly (or Pany or Sigma or Samyang) make one for us please!!

 

Yeah I agree. That 16mm equivalent FL is awesome. But if they can make the 9mm f2.8 at a cheaper price in a smaller size I would be more then happy to live with the FL difference between 8 and 9. The only thing missing in my lens kit is a nice UWA fast rectilinear prime (well that and the 45mm 1.8 i still need to get). After that I seriously would find a hard time buying any new lenses.

 

Yeah, it's the only piece missing that I really need. (I would like the 75mm also, but have a 75mm C-mount that works pretty well, so that's not a "must have".)

 

I'd definitely consider it but would prefer a 8mm f3.5....

When I had my Canon 650D, the Sigma 10-20 provided a 16mm equivalent FOV which was perfect....AND IT TOOK FILTERS!

 

Fingers crossed it's actually a fish.

Understand users are happy with the Samyang's performance, but AF at 2.8 with weather sealing would be nice.

 

I'm a bit cynical about this... I'll believe it when I see it. Bring on the 7-14 f2.8, btw...
