I have put the lens on my GX1 for a super small mountain bike combo. Pretty fun.

OI have the 9-18mm and it is a much nicer lens, but its apples and oranges. This lens is fun, small and fast. Well worth $99.

Cheers,
-Joe

I've been severely tempted by this lens since it was anounced, but since I do a lot of IR photography (on a full spectrum camera) would often want to use a filter.
I know it's not intended for filters, but if a 52mm filter was held tight against the front of the lens, would it vignette badly?
From the lens photos (& 140° FOV) it looks like I might just get a way with it. Could anyone confirm please?

Hi,

1. you won't be able to focus it if you put a filter on it

2. the focus lever sticks out, so a 52mm filter won't fit unless you file down the lever.
(I just tried fitting my 35mm ZD macro (it has a 52mm filter thread) over the 9mm; the lever is in the way)

Thanks Barry, that will help me resist temptation a bit longer!

I'm picking up my FE today. I'm hoping it will be OK on an IR converted EM5 body...no nasty hotspots. Otherwise it will still be a blast to use in visual light on the EM1.

Surprisingly, on the IR body, I can only use the closest focus setting...mid range & infinity setting are OoF in the IR wavelengths. Closest setting is actually quite good...everthing pretty sharp beyonw about 1 foot or so. Note that this shot was a horizontal pan so background shows some blur...but held steady, it's pretty great.

Good to hear, the focus shift isn't suprising though does seem a bit extreme.

Regarding your thought to stick a 720nm filter to the front...I think it could work. The focus lever is pointing down, not out in front of the lens body. I have such a filter and will see if I can hook it up without putting the glass at risk of scratching...can try some IR with my non-converted EM1. Have to wait a few days...we're in a rainy stretch here now...

Here's another test shot on the EM5-IR, SilverEfex2:

I recently picked up this lens, not crazy about the locked f/8 HOWEVER it's an excellent lens for the price and coverage.

The one main thing I like about it is despite being called a fisheye, the distortions are not that bad especially when leveled in perspective.
