Just a few examples to show why I still love this small, light and relatively cheap lens.
There are lenses much more expensive that don't have such a smooth bokeh. You just must know its limits.

I started with this lens then purchased the Panasonic 100-400.
I pulled the Oly out of retirement for a short while and this is one of the better shots.
It certainly can perform in right conditions, but the Panasonic isn't immune from mediocracy.

I think this lens is the best m43 super telezoom value when you consider what it offers vs the price. I can't recommend it enough.

I don't have any shots handy but I've enjoyed looking at everyone else's.

just two SOOC images I took last week at 75mm/6.3 and at 208mm/6.3 both at 1/1600, auto WB (no idea why iPad passes no EXIF data to the forum when posting SOOC RAWs but does pass full EXIF data when touching the slightest detail like applying minimal cropping to the images)

subjects sunbathing approximately 450 meters away, lots of thermals

SOOC RAW, 300mm/8, 1/800, auto WB

the best feature of this ”good enough” lens is that I can always have it with me in the bag on errand runs as to shoot when opportunity shows up without mumbling about the extra weight when opportunity does not show up

Exactly! I've even had it with me mounted on a 2nd camera on hikes. Quick access in case you spot a flighty critter on the way

indeed, however getting wisdom while young usually involves getting your soul or body through dire straits so the toll is all too high - yet some people getting on the other side of their personal straits still do not get it or forget all too soon wasting that wisdom

In my continued testing (learning) of the 75-300 and E-M5 III for use as a light weight closeup for flowers and bugs, etc., I offer these two versions of the same image, both cropped and uncropped.

This shows just how well the 75-300mm can perform.
Looks like you'll have fun with that combo.

Third time seems to be the charm with this lens for me. Definitely think using e-shutter/silent mode makes a difference on sharpness.
