Their phones are all rotary-dial units
My parents still had the rotary dial phone I grew up with until less than two years ago. Like your friend, the tire guy, the phone company kept calling them up, begging them to get rid of it, but my Dad kept asking them what was in it for him, other than having to spend money on a new phone. He asked them for a month's free service, but they declined.

Then they started getting less independent, and my sister got them a cell phone with huge keys and an emergency button, and the land-line went away. It was only because my sister agreed to pay for it that my Dad let it happen.

To children of the depression, it's all about the money.

I know, 7-14 isn’t exactly a portrait lens, but it works sometimes.

Love what that lens does to clouds!

Thank you for your comment. I'm pleased you picked up on that as it's one of the lens' strengths that I use often. I think it adds drama to the image.

The second image seems to have some vignetting — were you using a filter?
No there is no filter used and yes the image has a lot of vignetting, but this is no fault of the lens at all. I often use vignetting for effect though here I used Hipstamatic to achieve a specific result in post processing. But there is also some natural shadow in the foreground :)

Still post processing this so it's not complete, first time I've ever actually managed to capture the Milky Way!

It has been a while that I posted here. Took this picture on the last day of Summer with the E-M1 X and my beloved 7-14mm F2.8...I am also testing the new filter holder made by H&Y all in aluminum, very high quality and works great so far.
