As the days get ever gloomier, it's nice to see a bit of colour still in the garden.

I recently started experimenting with focus stacking using the E M5 Mark II with the Oly 60mm macro lens. Here's a couple of examples of Christmas tree ornaments. I didn't use any external lighting, so the shutter speeds were pretty slow. Comments and critiques are always welcome, as well as suggestions for using focus stacking.

Played around a little today to try out some new equipment. Didn't have so much time so I didn't get a single good shot at all.

...but... this was the least worst of them. Our king!

@phigmov that's very striking. Beautiful shot.

My 60mm croaked it. Message comes up when turned on "please check lens status". Same on other cameras. I put it away from last use and now this!
There's a noise of focus hunt or something when turned on then message.

Bugger, Richard 😭.

Have you tried cleaning lens and body contacts with a clean, dry, lint free cloth? And 'exercise' the body pins gently?

Mine did exactly same thing.
Cost me more to fix than it was worth. I should of just dropped it in the trash bin...

Thanks John
Yes cleaned them several times. And yes massaged them too 😊
Might get serious with something a bit stronger. Nothing to lose

Thanks. I'd been thinking this maybe the matter of fact.
On special at moment, might have to splurge.
Annoying!

Got lucky with this thing - was googling bee attractors and this cropped up so I planted some. Did not expect the candy-cane blooms!

Sorry to hear about your 60 - mine exhibits some odd behaviour on the E-M1. Never had issues on the E-M5, E-P1, E-PM1/2, GF1 or G3. Hoping its not an indication of worse to come. I wonder if you cover some of the contacts with tapes you could use it in MF mode (although w/ focus by wire that may be impractical) ?

interesting suggestion thanks.
I experimented with all covered. worked but no manual focus.
Stripped off half tape, no message, just a black screen.

I gave the contacts a very vigorous clean.
no change.

Hope yours behaves

Last spring I had the same message "please check lens status" (60 mm on em1.2), I tried everything, cleaning the lens, and so on, I finally had the idea to look in the lens and it turned out that the aperture blades were completely shrivelled up:(, even manual turning didn't change anything. Not repearable 😥, so I bought a new one...
