What I forgot to mention in my previous post: I always use manual focus for the stacks, try and focus on the point closest to the camera and then I give the focusing ring a light turn, so the bracketing starts just in front of the insect/ flower/...That makes sure everything is really in focus. By default I leave the number of images on 50, but sometimes it's brought up to 180 or even more, it depends on the subject, the distance to the subject, and also if some raynox magnifyer is used. I don't remember it exactly, but I'm pretty sure a raynox 250 was used on the first image, the second image looks to have been take with the 60 mm only. By the way, both images are a bit cropped...Good luck!
thanks again
I have a Raynox, rarely use it on my Olympus, but that may now change. Much appreciated

This is the seed head of our Bottlebrush plant Callistemon Citrinus.
I rather like the painterly effect of the background in this shot.

You've sure got some exotic species visiting lately Peter.
I take it they were blown in on Storm Aiden. ;)

It takes more than a little storm to stop this hardy adventurer Brian. Another national lockdown however?!?! I have this week off work. Our plans for the 1st half have been impacted by the weather. It's set to clear up nicely for the second half, just as we go back into lockdown.

The photos were taken at Stratford Butterfly Farm, but as you point out, it was a dark stormy day, so light could have been better.
