Nice for a first try, been meaning to give this a go myself
Olympus crops in a bit when done in camera, from memory they state that in one of the manuals.
Thanks. This was hand-held. The thing was pretty straight-forward actually after navigating the labyrinthine menu to find the setting :D For those curious it's…oh I forget already--it's under Bracketing->Focus Bracketing though I'm pretty sure. I also wasn't quite sure when the camera was done taking the 8 photos: it was quicker than I expected.

I made an attempt at focus stacking today, since I finally (after a month of rain) found a half-decent specimen. There are two photos: one is focus-stacked JPG out of camera and the other made from the same raw images in affinity photo. I've no idea why the Olympus photo is zoomed in a bit like that. As I said that's out-of-camera.

The stacking process always crops the image. Leave plenty of space around your subject when stacking. You might as well shoot jpeg when stacking, as that’s what you end up with anyway.

Just beginning to try focus stacking. This is a Bogweed flower, about 1cm across.

Or boxing gloves maybe ???
Living in one of my plant pots.
When its sunny he/she climbs to the top and enjoys the sun.

It's a male, Monika - you can tell by those 'boxing gloves' as you call them :D They're actually the palps by which they inseminate the female....

A hoverfly "drinking from the fountain".

There is a saying in Finland: What big ones do first, the little ones will later.
