I'm thinking about getting one, but do you guys feel that the 45 is a bit too specialized? Is it something that you can walk around with?

I don't want to spend that much on a lens that I will only occasionally use. Right now I have a 20 on 100% of the time and I'm pretty happy with it.

Depends what YOU like. I never used a 35mm often, but when I got my 20/1.7 it became my default lens. When I received my 45/1.8, it became my most used lens as I was very used to shooting with it before u43.

The 20mm is a normal/wide angle of view. For the shooting that you would use that for, it's possible to have it on 100% of the time. The only reason that you'd have a 45mm on your camera all of the time is because you're shooting portraits. Is the 20mm your only lens, or do you have a zoom? If you have a 14-42 or 14-45, zoom it to that focal length and walk around with it. Or, if you have a 40-150 or 45-200, zoom your lens to that and walk around. It's more specialized than a wide angle lens; you aren't going to be capturing scenes with it, but it still has its very useful place in the lineup.

I placed my order on 31 Oct, and the lens arrived today, along with the 37mm silver vented hood I ordered from them. The shipping box was a bit banged up, but the retail box of the lens was perfectly fine and well-padded with foam peanuts. A great price, especially since there's apparently international warranty from Olympus. :2thumbs:

Wow, that's a pretty sharp discount. Maybe we'll soon see the end of over-priced 45s in the buy/sell forum.

    Was that free shipping?

    So tempting...

Edit: reread, I see the free shipping option really is that fast.

Their sale price dropped steadily from $438 on September 19th to $345 now.

    Will it drop any lower?

I wonder if they're gray market. How on Earth are they making money after shipping from Hong Kong and paying all of eBay's fees. I am a power seller and get a 20% discount on fees and still pay around 20% between eBay and Paypal (and don't even start to talk about how much I spend on shipping supplies).

The person i bought from is listed as Samsung Korea with 1385 rating @98%. I just received message from them. Nov. 3 is Korean holiday therefore my package hasnt been shipped. I guess as long as the item is in perfect working condition I am okay with it.

Edit: It is listed as shipped now.

I'm thinking that shipping from HK to the US must be dirt cheap. I see items for just a couple dollars with shipping included from there all tbe time.

Just wanted to add that I ordered this lens from dzone2 on eBay on Saturday and picked it up from the local FedEx office today. Beautiful looking lens and I'm really looking forward to using it.

I will also attest to this. My order came from Korea in 3 days by fedex. The lens works perfectly and is brand new. It seem this lens was made for the Korean market according to the labeling on the box.
