    Cameta has this same lens for $200 (new) or $170 ("factory demo"/refurbished). They also have the optically similar non-R version for $160 refurb/$180 new.

    This is a decent lens. It doesn't have the most tactile feel to its operation, but optically it is fine. I've seen others here describe it as a "gumball machine" lens due to it's light weight and the lack of damping or "feel" in its mechanics. That said, I've had mine for a couple of years now and haven't had any issues with it.
