Wow, I love that watch picture (#2)!

(I have this lens and haven't used it very much . . . definitely haven't taken any images as good as these. Goes to show it's the carpenter, not his tools.)

Hi Mellow, I think you should definitely give your Zuiko 35mm some more camera time. It may appear to be fairly cheap and cheerful but I think it is a very under-rated lens. f3.5 may not sound particularly impressive for a 35mm lens but it is a macro after all and is very usable wide open if required. These were all between 3.5 and 5.6 IIRC. Not quite traditional macro apertures but then none of these are genuine 1:1 macro shots.

Thanks, but I just sold it! I just couldn't justify owning it when I could (and did) buy a MF macro lens for about $40. I agree it's a great lens, but I've found that almost all my shooting is done at normal or WA focal lengths, and I just didn't find that much use for a 70mm-equivalent lens.

But I'm glad you're enjoying yours!

I was actually about to sell this one as well because I'd bought it last year with a used E-410 and never intended to keep it. After having used it a bit I'm not so sure now. I'm definitely selling the 70-300mm that came with the same camera - that thing feels awkward enough on the E-410, let alone an E-P1!

The 70-300mm's a different animal. True, it's large, but ALL 300mm lenses are going to be large (unless it's a mirror), and the Olympus 70-300mm is smaller than most. And it's not like you can get a legacy lens replacement--believe me, I've tried, and they're GIGANTIC and manually focusing a 300mm lens is no picnic. In my view it's one of only two 300mm lenses I would consider for m43, the other being the new Panasonic 100-300mm, which is optically stabilized but even longer and heavier than the Olympus.

Olympus did recently introduce a native m43 75-300mm zoom, but it's priced outrageously and I can't imagine it's going to be on many people's shopping list. At least not mine.

Yeah the 35mm 3.5 is so under rate, for a inexpensive sub 300 dollar setup for m4/3. Even with the adapter on it is still very compact. I love that little lens. And the AF works just great for macro.

ZD 35mm f3.5 Macro mounted on an E-P1. This is one of the better balanced 4/3 lenses you can mount on a m4/3 camera. The lens is quite light but substantial enough to give you something to hold onto with your left hand to help stabilise the smaller Pen bodies.

you can put the canon 50mm 1.8 lens hood onto the this lens. The es-62 can reverse the hood for storage, and the regular lens cap will mount to it.

Non close-up shot. I really wish this lens had a focus limit switch, but it is not to be at this price point. Combined with slow AF it significantly limits it's usefulness as a general use prime lens, but if you've got time on your hands it is nice and sharp with no real vices.

Just got a ZD 35 mm second hand and test it today....like the mod say people under rate this lens...it's quite capable actually and cheap + AF in PEN...I replace some sample with newer picture

Hi all, I may get a 35mm 3.5 macro soon for my E-P2 and I have question.
I read the focus is by-wire so, will it work with a normal adaptor (OM to m4/3) or do I need one with electrical contacts to supply power to the lens?
