Wow this thing is great! It's probably just me, but I never got a pic like this with the 60mm.

30mm gives a different perspective to 60mm which may be one reason I prefer the 30mm.

F7.1 is too large a lens opening. Now the leaves are not sharp. Looks like a funeral.

 

[Underwater]

Took this lens underwater today near the mouth of the Siuslaw estuary. Visibility was poor and the current was ripping but there was a fair amount of life out and about.
Barnacle-eating dorid- a type of nudibranch, or sea slug. They're about 1/2" to 3/4" long:

Has anybody calculated the effective focal length at 1:1 or max magnifications?

Being an internal focus design the lens should become wider angle as the focus point moves in. If I understand the theory at least.

It feels like a pretty wide macro lens in close.
