300 mm with 2X Digital Zoom I am impressed
Mine images appear a little sharper using 2X digital Zoom than cropping
I don't know why, but it works for me

But it is oversharpened. There is a white line down the left edge.

    Wow that really looks bad
I used Elements 8 to resize then to photobucket

You have to Pixel Peep to see that Image on my monitor which I sent to Photobucket
I just resized a little smaller and it looks better, but not much

    Photobucket ??

Yes, Photobucket compresses and degrades all uploads.

I just learned about the in-camera crop function. I've been really happy with that for "zoom"!

Here's an example. This is 100% out of camera (except for downsizing). No other PP done. Cropping done in camera too. Can you guess the lens?

Seeing in my signature you might guess I used the 12-32 or the 11, but nope. Here's the original.

The 12-40/2.8 has a lens function button which I have to digital zoom, and yes the in camera processing gives better results than cropping in post: JPG, of course.

  7. I changed my record button to 2x zoom , works well for my other lenses that way.
