Hi - I'm wondering about adapting the four thirds Olympus 25mm f2.8 to use on a E-PL3. I would really love the new PL 25mm f1.4 but cannot justify the expense! How does the olympus compare in terms of sharpness?

I had the Panasonic 20mm and to be honest found it a little wide - i grew up with 50mm lenses on various film cameras, so always found myself wanting to be closer (plus it was not that great for close in people shots)

Has anyone used this four thirds lens with a micro 4/3 camera, Is it slow to focus?

    more lens pondering...
    Thanks

I have tried the ZD 25/2.8 on the EP2 and GH2. The AF on the EP2 was slow. It was relatively faster on the GH2, but the accuracy became erratic.

The IQ of the 25/2.8 is average at best. It was definitely not better than the ZD 14-42 (set at 25mm and at same apertures) kit lens that came with the E400/500/600 series.

I think the best bet is selling the 20/1.7 and then buying the PL25/1.4, if you can find the PL25/1.4.

Thanks. Very helpful. The PL 25/1.4 is easy to get here in the UK. Just hard to afford!

It's not dreadfully slow, but it is certainly slower than any of the native lenses.

The more significant knock is that it's rather mediocre. It's certainly nowhere near the Panasonic 20/1.7 let alone the 25/1.4 in terms of sharpness. Even the Panasonic kit lenses better at that focal length. For the size, or the 1.3 stop advantage in light, I guess it might make sense over the kit lens, but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

If you really want 25mm and you have the 20/1.7, can't you just crop a bit?

Thanks for this - Well, i sold it already! and in truth cropping was possible but not the solution I wanted. If IQ of the 25 ZD pancake is not that great - I will leave it and maybe save for the PL 25...or see what the new 12-35 zoom looks like.
