The topic came up in a different forum of the "look" achieved by similar-field-of-view lenses with these two cameras. I'll post some shots here, and will add others to this thread later today (see explanation below).
    Info:
    • Olympus E-M5 with 17mm f/1.8 lens shot first, shot at f/2.0
    • Fuji x100 with 23m f/2.0 lens second, shot at f/2.8
    • Olympus shot "Muted" with saturation and contrast down and tone curve reducing contrast just a little further
    • Fuji shot in Provia simulation, with color +1, highlights -1, sharpness +1
    • Both shot auto ISO, auto WB, no lens hood
I shot Olympus as above as I noted the colors were closest to "reality", but now the images look too muted to me. I usually shoot in Natural pic mode but those often look too saturated and contrasty, even with both dialed down. Here they are. I'll add some shot in Natural later.

And here are some quick shot taken with the E-M5 set at Natural picture mode with saturation and sharpness -1, contrast 0, curves flattened out. I like these better than the Olympus shots above.
    Olympus 17mm f/1.8 first, Fuji 23mm f/2.0 second

    E-M5-1. x100-1. E-M5-2. x100-2. E-M5-3. x100-3. E-M5-4. x100-4. E-M5-5. x100-5.

    Cool comparison!

I think it shows that the aspect ratio is a big factor and in camera color settings(or RAW processing) is a bigger factor.

Interesting, the "pillow shot" reveals almost no difference in DOF. Did you shoot from the same spot? Looks like there is no that much difference over here.

The WB of EM5 tend to warmer. Fuji tend to blue.

There shouldn't be more than a 1/3 stop.

Yes, shot from the same spot.
The 17mm Oly was at f/2.0 and the 23mm Fuji at f/2.8.

To my eye the Olympus (first shot) has a cooler white balance - particularly in the upper blue parts top center of the last image.
