Olympus 12mm f/2.0 $599

    B&H has the Olympus 12mm f/2.0 in both black and silver for $599. Am I correct in thinking this is the lowest legitimate retail price for a new-with-warranty example of this lens in the U.S.?

    EDIT: Looks like this price is pretty much everywhere right now. I have no idea how long the deal with last.

    Maybe they are re-positioning this lens in their lineup in preparation for the rumored (but pretty certain) roll-out of uber f/1.2 lenses that might include a 12 mm?

    For those have the lens check KEH for that metal lens cap. I scored a black one for 8 bucks there without any coupons and stuff. The lens cap came with the lens is a cheap filmsy one worse than any other m43 stock lens cap I have :x

    I already have the 12-40mm. Is it worth getting this?

    Hard to say. The 12mm is smaller, lighter and one stop faster than your 12-40. But it's 12mm only. Do you like shooting with primes? Most of my high-quality micro four-thirds lenses are primes. My zooms are the less-expensive options. I told myself a while ago that I would avoid paying for lenses like the 12-40mm Pro unless I bought a camera like the E-M1. And I won't do that unless and until I sell off my Pentax DSLR kit. And that's not happening anytime soon.
