Why do Oly have so many weird and wonderful hood attachments? It seems the rest of the world use straightforward bayonet systems that are quick to attach and reversible for storage - but not Oly. My 9-18 and 45 lenses have bayonets but they're not reversible and then my 17 and 75 have that weird thumb-screw clamp which is at least reversible, but it's slow to put on and off and being a metal-on-metal affair, it causes scratches on the lens barrel.

Are they just being different to be awkward?
