I'm looking to get a longer range lens to go with the 12-50. Options for now would be the 40-150 R and the 14-150, which could stand in at times as a walkaround lens. Is the image quality of the 40-150 better in its range than the 14-150 in the same range? Thoughts? Thanks.

The 40-150 is definitely sharper than the 14-150 in the same range, especially at the long end. The 40-150 is also much cheaper.

Another thought would be to go for the 75-300 lens. This would offer you much more range with a two lens setup (losing only a little bit between the lenses) but it is larger and more expensive than the 40-150.

The 14-150 is lots more expensive. But you won't have to be changing lenses all the time.

Look out for the 14-150 as a kit with the E-PM1. PM1s are being sold off, so the kits are often selling for less than the price of the lens on it's own!!
I bought a kit then sold the unopened PM1, making it the lens a bargain.

My 40-150 is sharper at the long end than my 14-150 but the 40-150 suffers from a double image IS issue at around 75mm and certain shutter speeds that the 14-150 does not.

    zooms.

So at the corners, the 14-150 is noticeably less sharp at the long end. Not too bad in the center, though.

I have both lenses. I bought the 14-150 to use as a walk-around lens, but I'm noticing that most of my shots are at 50 or less, where I could just as well use the 14-42, which is quite a bit more compact.

I'm still in two minds whether to keep the 14-150. It's very convenient not to have to change lenses when you do want the longer reach, though.
