    Hi everybody!

Since yesterday my 14-42 II lens shows some bad effect. When I set the focal length to a setting higher than 30mm the camera switches to the message that the lens must be extended first. This message only disappears after restarting the camera. The problem seems to be related to the focusing too because AF can also trigger the message sometimes.

The olympus phone service just said that a contact is adjusted wrongly and the repair (out of warranty) will cost over 90 € :-(

Does anybody of you notice a similar behaviour?
Any ideas what to do? (Except waiting for the rumored fast zoom with a longer range than the 12-35... *g*)

Yes, it's only this one collapsible lens.

Well, I can assure you that the lens is not worth spending 90 Euros to fix - since you can buy a mint one for maybe 65-75 Euros.

Either replace it, or just use it at the wide end.

get a p14-45 or P14-42II instead, either one will be a step up from the Oly one with decent OQ and OIS

I recently bought a brand new Oly 14-42ii R from ebay, with 2 year warranty, for what works out to 80 Euros.
