The weather has been totally overcast and rainy for the past few days and the sea has been grey and dull.
I've never shot "macro" before, so this afternoon after the sky lightened and was like a huge softbox, I decided to try it out.
The wind was blowing a bit, so some of the images are not pin sharp - but I was STUNNED how close I could get to the flowers - I guess around 6-7cm away!
These are NOT OOC jpegs - I've done some work in PS CS6.....
I'm sure there are better lenses for true macro work, but for a little used "bonus" feature, I'm very chuffed.

    P3120019.

    P3120015.

    P3120014.

    P3120004.

    P3120011.

For occasional and casual macro shooters it's a great bonus feature like you said. It eliminates the need to carry a dedicate macro lens unless you're really serious about macro and need real 1:1 magnification. Excellent shots!

I must admit that I didn't even check what FL I was using  - EXIF data states 19mm for all of them......
I'll shoot 2 more today at 12 and 40mm and post....

Yes, you're right. The 12-40mm can focus really close. What I do is set the focal length to 40mm, then use MF and set the focus ring to the closest focus range and then adjust my position until I get my subject in focus, then SNAP! Although not true macro, it does produce some amazing images.

    Here are some examples: P1190091.
    P1190067. P1190022. P1190003.
