    Amazing photos, all of them.
I'm trying to start with macro/closeup photography with a legacy Sigma fd macro.
Would you care to share your technique?
Are these focus stacks or single shots?
    What's your lighting setup?

Thanks P ... Really, it's too much to put in a post. Which is why I wrote it up, more or less, in my sig's second link - http://beingmark.com/macro-illustrated/

Single images, no stacks, using a small sensor camera with achromats. Light is from either the on board or hot shoe mounted flash, snooted and diffused.

That's a great article and it's already bookmarked to be read slower.

I specially liked the way you give low importance to the technical aspects and give greater focus to the mindset of photographing the insects in their environment.
I'm also not interested in freezing/positioning insects and although I see the need for documentation/scientific purposes it really doesn't work with my "artistic" goals.
The fact that the article is illustrated with great pictures just make it resonate more.

Now to start building a diffuser and experimenting!

I'm not normally a huge fan of insect marco but your images are in another class. Well done and great write up, you may convert me one day.

every now and then i visit your site (bookmarked) and remind myself why i have to go out and shoot. It is a great stress release technique, especially when doing macro.

Also, i constantly keep postponing my reminder to do my DIY diffuser/snoot :)

great shots, yet again, proving you don't need really expensive gear to make amazing macro shots.

Your blog has really taught me a thing or two and I'm now getting better macros so I definitely recommend reading it. :)

Wow. Hats off - tremendous shots. And I'm impressed by your ethos here too. As someone who frequently gets mired in technical aspects, I too often lose sight of what it is I'm trying to achieve - a personal fault, but one I'm aware of. And your blog makes me more aware of it - a good thing. Thanks
