I got the Olympus 17mm f1.8. I'm the using Olympus omd em5 camera. And I can only get that lens to auto focus in the Iauto mode. It will not focus in manual or any other setting. Any ideas? Remember I'm a newbie.

Not to be a wiseguy but is the focus mode set to AF? Check gear menu A.

Check your settings, maybe you've enabled the AEL/AEF button to be your AF button for other modes.

Try pressing the Fn1 button and see if it will AF. Also try and check the suggestion above.

The focusing ring slides fore and aft. In the aft position(closer to the camera), it's manual focus (except IAuto mode, which overrides everything).

Okay the Fn1 button is focusing. How do I get it back to the shutter button?
