I went to Isle of Skye for a long weekend with the local photo group I belong too, had a really good trip, great folk and good scenery to photograph and a few too many beers on Fri and Sat nights

Here's a few select pics, all with GH3 and 12-35, in fact that's all I used the whole trip apart from about 4 shots with the 35-100.
All RAW and processed in LR5.

    Comments welcome :)

Wow, it's beautiful. What a great experience. I am an ex-pat living in Canada and wish I'd travelled around the UK much more before I left.
Great job and now I have lens lust :)

Thanks. I just love the landscapes in Scotland. I also like shortbreads and whiskey, but that's for another forum.

No, no. The first sticking snow is coming down and I am happy to talk about Scotch whisky right here.

Paul, beautiful pictures, thank you for posting them. I have just added one more location to my bucket list. Did you stay overnight in more than one location? It does not seem possible to have so many vistas within walking distance of one location.

Thanks, We were there 2 nights, we were driving, getting up early and getting back after sunset so covered a lot of miles, still lots more to see there but we couldn't see it all in 3 days.

Wow! Great shots and I'm extremely jealous. Would love have places like that to go to to shoot as I live in Iowa in the middle of cornfields pig/cow farms, not very exciting stuff to shoot haha. I want to go back to Scotland, was there when I was 16 when my dad had to do safety training there. But I wasn't into photography then haha. I also want to visit Iceland and Greenland sometime as well.

You have just named my 3 favourites place to hike, countries were you still have a lot of freedom to go wherever you want.
Though Scotland is on the bad slope in my opinion, for the last 10 years there has been a large increase in earth roads built in wild place be it for wind farms or shooting. For the Coast to Coast hike i dont dare crossing again the Monadliaths for example as its sad to see what happened there.
But there is one thing in Scotland that i really love, its the climate, having a mix of sun/rain/snow in the same day as i often had hiking in may is great for photos.

Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories. My wife and I were there last year. Such a beautiful part of the world. Every so often I jolt the memory banks with nip of Talisker bought on location!

No, number 1 isn't HDR just shot in raw and processed with LR5, they all were done like that. I did take 3 stop bracketing shots with a lot of them with the intention of merging them in Photoshop as the dynamic range was extreme for a lot of them (sun lit clouds in the sky and dark rocks in the shadows) but I managed to recover all the details in most of the shots in LR by picking the most suitable bracketed shot.
