Great idea, here is my very amateurish attempt at it:

Any suggestions how to do this kind of black and white conversions better?
It looks great to me!
A tool that is very popular to use for B&W conversions is NIK Silver Efex!
NIK Collection is now owned by DxO so it can be found on their site and they have 30 days free trials on all SW.
The free 2012 (?) version should still be available if you don't want to pay for it, just search for it!

Thanks,
I will be back to take this one again. This was a test shot to see how it would come out. Unfortunately it has motion blur due to the high wind. This one is SOOC, just rotated to show up correctly.
The tracks aren't moving ... the light and colour are wonderful.

Everything else in the frame is really just window dressing, IMHO.

Technical perfection is all well and good - always aim for it myself - but I will bet you that you can never replicate the lighting of this particular shot.

It's a beauty.

I must admit the colours from the EM1.3 are nicer to me than the Panason G85 I have been mainly using. I was worried than the 12-100 would not give me enough compression to squash the curve compared to the 14-140 Panasonic lens but I was plesentley supprised with the results. Now I have enough batteries the EM1.3 & 12-100 will see more use.

I posted this image on another thread and now realise it really should have gone here. The light was really interesting. I haven't altered much apart from contrast.

Bonus points for spotting that one perfectly placed tent in this one. :)

(Minarets Lake, Inyo National Forest, California, yesterday.)

p.s. loving the 8-25mm more and more every hike...
