Spent a stormy day in Rocky Mtn. N.P. and then headed back to Kremmling, Colorado for the night. After dinner we took a drive on some back country roads and these are scenes from that drive. That is the Colorado River looking west in #2 and east in #3. Number 4 is a small Mule Deer buck and #5 is a larger buck. Last photo is a pix of a Kremmling storefront and that is all there is...no roof!!

On the way home from Rocky Mountain N.P., we did a quick side trip to Fantasy Canyon, Utah (FC). FC is located about 45 miles south of Vernal, Utah, is about 10 acres in size and is administered by the BLM. This site is remote in the sense that it is in the middle of nowhere and amenities are a vault toilet and vague trails. There is good roadside signage directions to FC and only the last 5 miles are on dirt roads. Also, there is a BLM office in Vernal where a FC brochure and directions are available. I would only recommend going to FC in good weather as I can imagine a muddy mess otherwise.

See Wikipedia for more information and history on FC. The rocks are composed of quartzose sandstone and were deposited during the Eocene Epoch...we all remember those days, right!! These photos were taken late afternoon after a passing storm to the west. the stand-alone hoodo's are 6-8 feet tall. My camera battery died right at sunset or I would have stayed longer...spares back in the car!!

Here is my first posting of images to this site (not sure of the process, to be honest but I hope it all works).

Decided to take a couple of trips out of Australia in 2017 and 2018. Here's a small selection of landscape shots, most of them jpegs straight out of the camera (Olympus E-M5ii with a 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens).

Zion Canyon and the Virgin River at Zion National Park (I have been fiddling in post-processing with this one, somewhat unsuccessfully so far).

View from our tent at Woldewans Dune Camp, Namibrand Nature Reserve in Namibia (weren't sure if the animals belonging to the tracks were friendly).

Sandhills at Sossusvlei near Dune 45 in Namibia (a ho-hum photo, I thought, until I noticed the figure standing in the lower left-hand corner.

Here is a final set of landscape photos from our trip from Australia to the U.S. and Canada in 2017 and to Namibia in 2018. The first 4 photos were taken with an Olympus E-M5ii and a f/2.8 12-40mm PRO lens and all are straight out of the camera jpegs (except for Number 3 which had some minor post-processing applied). The final 4 landscape photos were taken by my wife Jan on an Olympus E-M10 with a 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 R lens. This lens was brought with us because following our journey to Namibia we then travelled to Botswana to photograph a variety of native animals in the wild - however, I was also interested to see how the lens would perform as a landscape lens.
