Today was my lucky day. Received a text yesterday telling me the EM-1 was in at the LCS. Left work for lunch to pick it up. Traded my EM-5 w/ grip.

I will vow to update this thread as i use the camera with feedback on its performance etc. And I hope other members will update it as well with their thoughts and comments.

I made this the " official" thread as I think it would be a resource for members to use for real world usage and comments from other members to use in their decision making process to purchase the EM-1 either from system to another system or within u43.

    anywho. iphone pics..

PL25 handles very well on the EM5. Took a picture of it to post on 43rumors for trolls who claimed it was impossible for me to have am E-M1. After I did, instead of eating crow, troll's response was 'oh doesn't mean you don't have a review copy.'

    Guess you can never win.

Posted this in the other thread, but love that I can get something like this with a simple art filter. Sure I can do better with PP, but it'll save me some time.

Sometimes I can't stand 43 rumors and honestly I've stopped visiting the site lately as it's beginning to be overcome by trolls etc.

I wouldn't have even wasted the time by taking a picture!

Haven't had anytime with the camera tonight. Finished up football and now editing some pictures from Friday.

Just noticed that the flash cover is actually different than that of the EM5. It covers the AP2 port cover, yet it still slides off just as easy. I guess its a backup to losing the Ap2 cover, which i never had a problem with, but i guess some did otherwise i doubt they would have updated the flash cover.

My experience so far is very favourable, handling is great. It's only about a centimetre bigger than the EM5 and I haven't noticed that in use, and it certainly doesn't feel any heavier. Focusing is even faster and snappier than with the EM5, and a bit more accurate I would say (I haven't yet tried out the tracking focus). I shot a fairly long client portrait session yesterday afternoon with it, however in terms of IQ (shooting RAW) I'm not really seeing any difference but I'll get a better idea on that over the coming weeks. I'll test out the JPEG performance tomorrow. The viewfinder is beautiful but for some reason I prefer the LCD of the EM5 which seems to render colour a bit better. But all in all it's a superb camera, as is the EM5.

On the EM-1, I feel like I have to really warm up the temp slider to get it to look like real life. Just wondered if it's me or do others feel the same?

I had to do the same with my EM-5. The color temp is just too cold.

There's a setting for the warm auto WB or normal. If you are using auto WB, trying the warm setting to see if you like that more.

Personally, I'm finding the JPEG color in natural fairly accurate. More accurate I think the the E-M5. RAWs will have to wait for now (see my other post about Lightroom).

That's been my experience w/the EM-5..even with Keep warm colors on. This is just the opposite of the E-500, which was too warm often. The E-1 was accurate 99% of the time.

Yes, I'm very happy with the EM-1 files, and I think the LCD looks natural and great. It's just the EVF that needs adjusting.

    Thanks!

Thank you bcaslis and Clint - I think it's going to take a few weeks to get to know the E-M1 before I'll have it set up how I like it, but the one thing that jumped out at me yesterday was the responsiveness.
