    Maybe these are stupid questions 101, but I have searched without finding good answers:

    1) Several lens manufacturers rate their image stabilization in effective f-stops. Can anyone tell me the number of effective f-stops in the Panasonic lenses with "MEGA O.I.S.", say specifically with the 14-140 mm and the 100-300mm?

    2) If one is shooting on a tripod, is there any reason why O.I.S. cannot be used or should not be used other than to conserve energy?

    3) Which stabilization method works/works better when shooting using a tripod, IBS or O.I.S.?

    Thanks in advance to all for your sharing of information/knowledge.

    Best regards,

    1) From memory it is better than 2 stops;
    2) OIS/IBIS should be disabled when using a tripod.
    3) see answer 2.

    There were a couple of quite long threads on this topic last year. A search may turn up something.

    Thank you. I did a bunch of searches without success. I shall try again.
