I keep getting an image of a camera in a circle with a line across instead of the image the poster uploaded, it doesn't happen all the time but often enough. Is it something I have done wrong?

Seems to happen only for the forum-hosted images (uploaded images). Probably a bandwidth issue.

Can you link me to a page where this is happening?

Happens to me if I haven't looked at images in a thread for a while. If I keep clicking refresh, I'll eventually get all the images. I assume my browser (Firefox) is timing out.

Is this something new or has it been happening for a while now?

For a long time now, we've had a script that was replacing broken images with a placeholder. Just removed it. Let me know if that helps.

I just looked at two threads I never view and one that I hadn't looked at in a while. No problems with any of them. One of the threads took perhaps 10 seconds to show everything, but when it completed nothing was missing. This seems a lot better to me. Maybe it wasn't my browser after all.

I just tried a bunch of threads on my iPad, whose transfer rate is much slower than for my desktop. No missing images even when it took a long time to transfer everything. Definitely better now. I'll be interested to see what other people say.

still getting no-shows and the placeholder image has been replaced with the file name. I think that the script was only a symptom of an impatient browser. It is much easier to spot missing images with the script. I didn't spot the file names at first.

    FYI firefox 48.0.1

For a while but I am not sure how long (several weeks I think) I will make a note of the thread if it happens again.

The problem has reappeared on both my desktop and iPad in the last day or so. Clicking refresh usually gets all the images although I gave up after a couple of minutes of trying that on my iPad last night.

It's only happening for attachments, not Flickr embeds, etc?

All I can tell you is that a xxxxx.jpg text placeholder remained instead of the image. I just tried more threads I seldom look at and the problem did not occur.

Even the couple-minute failure last night is not an issue for me. I can always look at a thread later. I just wanted to report what happened in case it indicates an unexpected change.

I wasn't seeing this issue earlier, but noticed it on my laptop and desktop last night and this morning. I noticed that new posts were more likely to have the issue than old ones, but that may be a caching thing on my browser.
