Nikon D800 - sensor evaluation

    Not really connected to m4/3, but DXO finally did their measurement of the 36MP FF Nikon D800's sensor. As suspected, it's basically an upsized version of the 16MP Sony sensor used in the Nikon D7000 and similar bodies.|0/(brand3)/Nikon

    The remarkable part is that for equal-sized output, it offers high ISO performance comparable to the best (Nikon's D4 currently) and more than 2 stops better than the best m4/3, while at low ISO it has higher DR than any camera, including $10k+ medium format digital backs.

    If m4/3 can get within 1 stop in terms of high ISO noise, and 1.5 stops in terms of DR, I know I'll be set...

    Indeed, that's a mouth-watering performance of the D800. Let's hope Panasonic feels challenged!
