This is the adapted lens I've gotten the most use out of so far. Image quality is great on the G1. My handholding ability at high magnification is less stellar.

Thanks--it's nice to get a really nice lens for not much money, which you still can with these.

If you like legacy lenses from Nikon, you may consider the E-series: 28mm, 50 and 70-150 upon all ;)

That should work. That lens of yours must be quite old, but it's most probably excellent anyway, really worth getting an adapter for. I use mine all the time for close-ups. Oh, and BTW I use a Fotodiox shift adapter with it. The adapter isn't that great for general use, see this thread. I also have a Novoflex adapter for Nikon F lenses which is much more expensive and much better.

Yes, based on the serial number it is mid-60s. I have never used it, but for $25 I can grab the adapter and have some fun!

Yes, the lens looks like this:

Which is of the same vintage (1963-1969) based on serial #.

Thanks, silly me never heard about that site. Looks great and they surely have them for acceptable price. Unfortunately, their sending cost is not acceptable, $72 for the cheapest doubles the price :(

Looks great! I'm on the hunt for one of these lenses and actually bought the 1:1 step up adapter already. We don't get a ton of dragonflies around here in Vancouver, but spent a weekend on the lake close by just teaming with them.

From what my experience this weekend - I can see how you can capture a sharp image with a sharp 150, but I don't understand how you guys get so close to these things with a macro - the ones around the lake definitely bolted pretty quickly whenever I got close with my 150 - never mind, getting right up in their face with a macro.

Maybe your specimens are just more mellow or laid-back? LOL. What's the secret to all the dragonfly close-ups?
